Prisoner B-3087
The book Prisoner B-3087 is a great book with an even better theme/message. The message is that you should never lose hope and you should never give up. It is very important to try your best and never give up, so you can meet your goals. Also, the person Prisoner B-3087 was based around, Jack (Yanek) Gruener, never gave up. He survived the holocaust, was in 10 different concentration camps, and lost practically all of his family, the ones he loved, and most of his friends that he met along the way. Jack (Yanek) shows that you have to believe in what you want to do, and you should always look for the light at the end of the tunnel.
In the beginning of the book Yanek was very happy and looking forward to his future, being in the film industry. But, soon after, people were bombing, boycotting, calling the Jewish people names, bringing down their self esteem, and separating them from everybody else. Soon after, everybody that Yanek has loved is taken away from him and is left alone to be taken away from the Nazis a little while after. When Yanek is in the concentration camps, he never feels safe and feels that he will die everyday for minor things that shouldn’t matter. Now, Yanek is at the bottom of the pyramid. He barely gets the basic things he needs, but he still helps many people along the way that just don’t care. That is how Yanek’s story is related to Maslow’s Pyramid
The Holocaust was a horrible event. It is still hard to believe it happened less than 100 years ago. But, modern society should learn from the Holocaust. People in modern day society should know not to judge people based on who they are and what they believe in. Even though many people accept others with different race, religion, culture, and etc. some people still only like others that are the same as them. People should look at the Holocaust and what Hitler thought of the Jews and the other people he put into concentration camps and see how those people were treated just because of their religious beliefs. The people of modern day society should learn from what happened in the Holocaust and apply it to how they treat others.
